Lydia Steinman is a registered dietician and professor at the University of Texas, who has provided nutritional consultation to us throughout our product’s development. We sat down with Lydia to ask a few questions about the nutritional benefits of NurturMe and here are her nutritional benefit results:

Why Organic?
You can minimize your baby’s exposure to toxic pesticides that conventional farming uses as a common treatment to kill damaging insects, weeds, fungi and bacteria. The residue left behind is difficult to remove and can be harmful to your baby’s vulnerable, growing body. Also, some studies have shown that organically produced fruits and veggies contain slightly higher levels of vitamin C and phytochemicals.

Why Dried?
You can feed your baby nutritionally superior food with freeze and drum drying methods. Because there is less heat exposure to foods in the freeze and drum drying processes, there is a higher preservation of nutrients and phytochemicals. And in terms of sensory quality, freeze and drum dried foods retain more flavor, texture and color than canned foods, making them look better and taste fresher.
No Preservatives?
NurturMe is nothing but organically grown, naturally dried goodness — no salts, sugars or preservatives. Some of our products, like apples and peas, have no additional ingredients. Our pumpkin and sweet potatoes have sunflower lecithin, an emulsifying agent that is not genetically modified. The other additive in our sweet potato and squash, Maltodextrin, is a carbohydrate extracted from corn since our product is gluten free.
